About the BBDA

Murder. Mayhem. Tea?

The Bluebell Detective Agency is a quirky-cozy-softboiled-detective mystery set in Portland, Oregon, where private investigator Rose Kachel navigates the city's oddities while tackling cases that are anything but ordinary.

When Rose is hired by Tim Bremington—a mild-mannered physician assistant nursing a broken heart and injured extremities—to find out if his fiancée is cheating on him, they expect a straightforward case. Instead, they find themselves unraveling a complex web of secrets involving a beloved local business, a missing person, and a family fighting to stay together in a new country.

Rose’s quick wit, stubborn curiosity, and offbeat methods are put to the test as she uncovers more than just infidelity. With Tim as her reluctant sidekick, Rose must sort through cultural misunderstandings, shady dealings, and dangerous confrontations, all while maintaining her own sense of humor—and Tim’s sanity.

Packed with snappy dialogue, a vibrant Portland setting, and a pair of unlikely partners learning to trust each other, The Bluebell Detective Agency is a refreshing take on the cozy mystery genre. It’s a story about loyalty, love, and the unexpected bonds that form when solving crimes—one cup of tea at a time.

For fans of Only Murders in the Building, Veronica Mars, the Finlay Donovan series, and more.

About the Author

Mo Montgomery is a disabled, rookie writer, and this is her first book, so please be nice. She resides in lovely Portland, Oregon, with her husband Will, their two cats/overlords, a plethora of half-dead houseplants (RIP), and a growing herd of dust bunnies. She’s been a reporter, taught college level business and marketing classes (don’t get excited, it was at a community college) and currently works for a wildlife nonprofit in Oregon. She has been known to bust a move in her kitchen while eating, resulting in her nearly choking to death multiple times. She does not recommend you try it.
